Some may be wondering why I have been lacking in the posting department for the past couple of months. Well one, I have been busy and although I could have posted my regularly posts, I did not feel like it. But going today on I will start to post new information. But to shock some of you, my current phone is a Nokia C6-00. Yes, my K850i of 2 years and 3 months had a screen that died on me and nothing in the current SE line up seemed very nice, especially something with 850/1900 3G that I need for AT&T. I did not want an XPERIA X10 because I did not feel like paying $25 for 2GB of data when I can continue paying $10 for unlimited because I uses a phone AT&T does not offer. Plus I get free navigation on this baby and I tried it the other day and it worked wonderfully, just like a standalone GPS unit. Start to see new posts after this.
Cedar is the GreenHeart phone that will be announced tomorrow along with Yendo and the XPERIA X8. It is very similar to Elm but adds a 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB connectivity. There doesn't appear a flash for the camera though.
Yendo is the touchscreen Walkman phone that is going to tomorrow. Codenamed Teacake/W150i, the UI looks like Android but is actually a touch version of a JAVA mobile phone platform.

SE posted Q1 2010 results yesterday and they surprised most people. They posted a profit for the first times since anyone can remember. This was thanks to a higher average price per phone thanks to higher end phones like the Satio, Vivaz, and X10. Volume is off over 28% but profits are up. With the X10 expanding to other markets, the launch of the Vivaz Pro, X10 Mini, and X10 Mini Pro, not to mention Elm and Hazel Q2 should continue the profits.
Two Walkman sliders were announced today by Sony Ericsson. First up is Zylo. This is a typical SE Walkman Slider with 2.6" QVGA screen, 3.2MP fixed focus camera, Fastport connector, and is available in 2 versions, both with QuadBand GSM. One has Euro HSPA and the other has NAM HSPA. One unique point is the ability to play high quality FLAC audio files.
Next up is Spiro which is lower end, has 3.5MM audio jack, no 3G, MicroUSB connector, 2MP fixed focus camera, no FLAC support, and replaced the standard Netfront browser with Obigo Q7 web browser.
Looks like a touch enabled Sony Ericsson feature phone will be coming in the second half of 2010. Will it be Aino 2 or a full touchscreen phone like the X10/X10 Mini? Only time will tell.
Sony Ericsson feature phone orders to Taiwan partners to be reduced significantly in 2010, say sources Daniel Shen, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Friday 19 March 2010]
Orders for feature phones released by Sony Ericsson to Taiwan production partners will be reduced significantly in 2010 as the handset vendor is switching its focus on smartphones, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
The assessment comes after Steve Yeh, president of Sony Ericsson Taiwan, stated that smartphones will account for 70-80% of the new phones to be launched by Sony Ericsson in the Taiwan market in the first half of 2010.
Profitability is the first priority now, followed by sales value and then unit sales, Yeh said at a ceremony marking the launch of Sony Ericsson's first Android-powered smartphone, the Xperia 10, in the Taiwan market on March 18. The Xperia X10 carries a suggested retail price of NT$22,900 (US$721.94).
Sony Ericsson is expected to release orders only for two ODM handsets to Arima Communications in 2010, with shipments of one Walkman handset to begin at the end of the second quarter and the other, a touch-enabled model, in the second half of the year, the sources noted.
Sony Style stores and the online store now have the unlocked Naite available. This phone is QuadBand GSM/EDGE, 850/1900/2100 3G (AT&T, Rogers/Fido 3G lovin), 2MP fixed focus camera, Push email, Microsoft ActiveSync, microSD card slot, and all the rest of the usual goodies.
For the price you can't beat it. Great back up phone or great full time phone for someone who likes to talk, text, use JAVA apps, or games.
SE also announced the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro. Both are great small Android powered touchscreen phones. The Pro has a slide out keyboard whereas the regular does not. Both have 600Mhz processors, 2.55 inch screens, 5MP autofocus camera with flash, and other great features which can be read below. Both will out in Q2 for 319€ for the Mini and 349€ for the Mini Pro.
