Touch Enabled Sony Ericsson coming in second half

Looks like a touch enabled Sony Ericsson feature phone will be coming in the second half of 2010. Will it be Aino 2 or a full touchscreen phone like the X10/X10 Mini? Only time will tell.

Sony Ericsson feature phone orders to Taiwan partners to be reduced significantly in 2010, say sources Daniel Shen, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Friday 19 March 2010]

Orders for feature phones released by Sony Ericsson to Taiwan production partners will be reduced significantly in 2010 as the handset vendor is switching its focus on smartphones, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

The assessment comes after Steve Yeh, president of Sony Ericsson Taiwan, stated that smartphones will account for 70-80% of the new phones to be launched by Sony Ericsson in the Taiwan market in the first half of 2010.

Profitability is the first priority now, followed by sales value and then unit sales, Yeh said at a ceremony marking the launch of Sony Ericsson's first Android-powered smartphone, the Xperia 10, in the Taiwan market on March 18. The Xperia X10 carries a suggested retail price of NT$22,900 (US$721.94).

Sony Ericsson is expected to release orders only for two ODM handsets to Arima Communications in 2010, with shipments of one Walkman handset to begin at the end of the second quarter and the other, a touch-enabled model, in the second half of the year, the sources noted.

That's really a good news when SE focus on nice phones like Vivaz, Satio, X10,...
