Aino Previewed at GSM Arena

GSM Arena has put up a preview of Aino. They like it like they liked Yari. They also reveal it has VGA 30FPS video recording which many SE fans have been waiting for. I personally love the phone and VGA video recording makes it a true winner. Also like Yari, Aino features the new and improved Access NetFront 3.5 browser which is faster, smoother, and more efficient browser then the 3.4 that had been used on all other SE feature phones.

London, UK – May 28, 2009 – Today Sony Ericsson launches Yari the ultimate phone for mobile fun, whether it’s gaming you’re after or multimedia action. C905a/Tobey and W518a/Bruce coming to AT&T

AT&T looks like they are getting both the C905a and W518a. These are internal slides and whether or not they come out is another question much like the K850i which had promo materials too, but in the end it was canceled for AT&T. I personally use a K850i on AT&T and it has been wonderful for nearly a year now. I hope to keep it another year or so then replace it with something "smarter".

Sony Ericsson has launched a new Mini Site that is under construction for now. This could be tied into the upcoming May 28 announcement. Whenever SE has a mini-site like this it is usually for something good. Hopefully they don't disappoint.

Sony launches world's smallest HD video camera

Sony has announced the development of a "coin-sized" high definition camera module.

Designed for use in security and industry, the 8.3-megapixel effort is smaller than a £1coin measuring in at 9.5 x 7.1mm.

The "MCB1172" from Sony Europe's Image Sensing Solutions Division is capable of delivering 720p, 30fps video and includes movie stabilisation, face detection, autofocus and motion autofocus.

There's also a high sensitivity mode and a slow-mo function, delivering 120fps as well as the option of 16x zoom.

Now available for mass production, products with the module in will likely hit the business markets later this year.

Might this power a SE phone to be announced on May 28? We can only hope.

More rumors for 2009

Eomer over at Mobile review reports the following.

X2 this year, yes. Improved specs, good for Trekkies. Ha Ha.
OSE touch screen this year also - good specs.
Plus Idou too.
SEMC's challenge is to
(a) take these devices and spin the baselines into daughter phones quickly.
(b) differentiate sufficiently through added value through things like PlayNow and add an App Store; having on-device access to Facebook, Twitter, Youtube is fine but everyone else is already doing this. Very few people are getting the same level of user experince on web 2.0 as Apple. The N97 is having a good stab it though along with Ovi Store.
(c) Deliver some s/w stability to the customer, too many SEMC products have had very profile s/w issues.

This is in trend with the slide below which shows that a touchscreen device running on the OSE (which is Sony Ericsson UI for feature phones like C905, C510, W760, etc.) will be out by 2010. X2 will be a nice upgrade to the X1.
